State Jewish Theater Bucharest
The State Jewish Theater Bucharest (Romanian Teatrul Evreiesc de Stat ) is a theater dedicated to the performance of Jewish plays . Some of the performances are in Yiddish and will be translated into Romanian .
The theater was founded in 1941 as Barascheum , a Jewish theater in Romanian, because performances in Yiddish were forbidden during the Antonescu regime. Maia Morgenstern has been director since 2012 .
