State Gallery of Modern Art

The State Gallery of Modern Art was opened on May 23, 2006 in the Glaspalast Augsburg . It is a branch of the Pinakothek der Moderne in Munich and is located in the immediate vicinity of Augsburg's city H2 - Center for Contemporary Art .

In the 1500 m², renovated part of the industrial building flooded with daylight, the focus is on art since 1945. The gallery shows works by Andy Warhol , Robert Rauschenberg , Robert Motherwell , John Cage , Dan Flavin , Donald Judd , among others . Instead of Jasper Johns Arrive / Depart from 1963/64, the 1967 painting “Salute” by Josef Albers has been shown since December 20, 2006 .
