Building of the Lemgo City Archives (Süsterhaus)

The Lemgo City Archive is the central archive of the city of Lemgo in the Lippe district , which has around 800 linear meters of documents (documents, files, photos, maps , plans and films) on the history of Lemgo. The archive is located in the so-called Süsterhaus, the chapel of the former Augustinian convent, near the Sparkasse.

Library

The city archive has an extensive service library on topics related to Lemgo and Lippe history. It is a reference library that is available to users of the city archive during opening hours. The book holdings have so far been indexed using a card catalog according to title, author and keyword.

The library of the city archive has held the historical book holdings of the Engelbert-Kaempfer-Gymnasium since 1955 . There are around 2000 titles, including 70 incunabula , with a focus on the 16th and 17th centuries.
