Gable risalit

In 1922 the private Hovemannsche Badeanstalt , a warm bath near the Burgsee, closed . In 1926 the three-storey, 14-axis building with the neoclassical gable risalit was opened as a public bath according to plans by Hans Stoffers . The location close to the Ziegelsee was chosen because an unrealized lake bathing establishment was to be built here. Later the city pool was to be expanded to include a swimming pool; nothing came of it either.

Hermann Milenz wrote in his chronicle of Schweriner Zeitgeschehen from 1892 up to and including 1935: “… the public swimming pool is not used as much by the public as one would have expected. The Stadtbad is a subsidized company ”.

In 1945 the bath was closed for a year due to war damage. In 1968, 120 customers and 180 baths were registered every day. Due to the increased housing construction since the 1970s, the use of the city pool has also decreased significantly; In 1990 there were only three guests a day. In 1991 the house was sold and converted into an office building.

Since the end of 2005, the contact and information center for self-help groups (KISS) has its headquarters here alongside a law firm and other companies. Up to 150 self-help groups meet in KISS.
