The Stadthalle Bielefeld is a multifunctional congress and event center in Bielefeld . The hall is used for events in the areas of meeting , conference, concert, exhibition , show used and public and business-related events.

architecture

The Hamburg architects Gerkan, Marg und Partner built the building in a striking white steamer structure in the city center opposite the main train station and opened on August 10, 1990. It is characterized by large glass facades that direct the view to the light-flooded foyers and galleries inside . The external dimensions of the building are 137.5 m in length, 56 m in width and 23.8 m in height.

In front of the building is the sculpture "Spiegel", a design by the Cologne artist Isa Genzken . The sculpture, which was erected on April 10, 1992, is a 30 x 20 meter steel frame construction, which is supported by two telescopic struts of different lengths. When looking from the direction of Willy-Brandt-Platz, the mirror is intended to reinforce the architecture of the town hall by placing it in a frame for the viewer.

building

With its spatial concept, the Bielefeld City Hall documents a great deal of multifunctionality with a total capacity of up to 4,500 visitors. On a total of 4500 m² event space, the large and small halls form the focus for larger events and concerts. The Great Hall can accommodate 2200 people in row seating and 3860 people for events with no seats. Thanks to its restrained appearance, it can be set up for various event requirements. But also the small hall with its 767 seats and 1000 standing places offers a suitable setting for events of all kinds. Ten conference rooms with a capacity of 25 to 200 people, as well as spacious foyer areas and corridors complete the space. State-of-the-art event technology according to international standards is also available in the Bielefeld City Hall.
