Sparkassenhaus Dresden
The Sparkassenhaus Dresden is a listed building in Dresden that previously served as a town house ( Stadthaus Johannstadt ).
description
The building at Güntzplatz 5 was built by Hans Erlwein and opened on July 3, 1914. It housed shops such as a cafe, a pastry shop, a branch of Pfunds dairy and authorities such as the city tax office, insurance office and welfare office as well as the road maintenance office.
One of the oldest preserved advertising pillars in Dresden has stood in front of the house since 1927.
After the destruction during the air raids on Dresden in World War II , only the baroque facade is preserved today, behind which there is a modern interior from 1997 and an atrium .
The building is one of the large number of public buildings erected around Güntzplatz at the beginning of the 20th century. Today it is the headquarters of the Ostsächsische Sparkasse Dresden .
