Ternitz parish church
The Stadtpfarrkirche Ternitz is the Roman Catholic parish church in Ternitz , a municipality in the Neunkirchen district in Lower Austria . The Church is consecrated to the Sacred Heart of Jesus . The church is a listed building .
history
The Ternitz parish was originally founded in 1926 as the branch of the St. Johann am Steinfeld parish. In the former coffin joinery at Ruedlstrasse 44, a so-called emergency church was set up as a place of worship . In 1936 Ternitz was raised to an independent parish. In 1959 today's parish church was built. To this day, the parish is part of the Neunkirchen deanery .

The church was built in 1959 according to plans by the architect Josef Vytiska . It is located on Theodor-Körner-Platz and is a large concrete building with a wide nave with a flat ceiling, an organ gallery with a curved parapet and a high side tower. The vertical ribbon of glass and ribbon of windows with the theme of the Creed and 12 Apostles was created by the painter and sculptor Karl Steiner . On the altar wall is a large mosaic of the Crucifixion with Maria and Johannes von Lois Pregartbauer . The church furnishings from the construction period with tabernacle, metal cylinders with reliefs and crossway reliefs made of metal are by the sculptor Eduard Föderl.
