City Councilor Meyn is a rose cultivation by Mathias Tantau that was introduced in 1919. Together with Schöne von Holstein, this rose is one of his first breeds. It is dedicated to the Uetersen master gardener and later city councilor and mayor Ernst Ladewig Meyn. He founded the Rosarium Uetersen together with the breeder and Wilhelm Kordes .
It is a small growing rose with a bushy habit. The flower is relatively large and its color ranges from medium to brick red. It blooms continuously throughout the rose season. The rose leaves are mostly dark green.
City councilor Meyn is frost hardy to −23 ° C ( USDA zone 6 ). This rose is no longer available in stores. Mathias Tantau bred them from the seedlings of the "Orléans rose".
