Company history
On April 1, 1992, the Annaberg-Buchholz public utilities were re-established. Initially, the municipal utilities only operated the district heating supply as well as the two indoor pools "Swimming Pool Atlantis" and "Stadtbad" in Annaberg-Buchholz. In 1992, the city of Annaberg-Buchholz and other municipalities sued for the surrender of the old electricity and gas assets that were taken from it after the Second World War. After negotiations with the regional suppliers Energieversorgung Südsachsen AG Chemnitz (electricity) and Erdgas Südsachsen GmbH, the municipal utility Annaberg-Buchholz took over the electricity and gas networks in the city in 1995.
In 1998 the technical management of the street lighting in the Annaberg-Buchholz urban area was taken over.
In 2000, the municipal company was converted into Stadtwerke Annaberg-Buchholz GmbH and in 2001 Stadtwerke Annaberg-Buchholz Energie AG was spun off.
In 2001/2002 Stadtwerke Annaberg-Buchholz took over the technical management of the “Markt” underground car park and the “Altstadt” car park .
The Stadtwerkehaus in Robert-Schumann-Straße has been the company's headquarters since March 18, 2002.
In 2003 the subsidiaries S + F Sport und Freizeit Annaberg GmbH and MUB Management und Beratungs GmbH were founded.
A holiday property in Heringsdorf on Usedom was acquired in 2005.
Internet connections via broadband cables were set up in Mildenau in 2007 , followed by the Oberwiesenthal health resort . Such connections have been available in Schönfeld, Wiesa, Hammerunterwiesenthal and in the Bärenstein district of Kühberg since 2013.
In 2009, Stadtwerke Annaberg-Buchholz commissioned a modern CHP plant in the Annaberg-Buchholz thermal power station, which generates a large part of the electricity used in Annaberg-Buchholz itself.
In the years from 2009, lane usage contracts for the power supply networks were signed with the communities of Königswalde , Thermalbad Wiesenbad, Schlettau, Tannenberg, Jöhstadt, Bärenstein and with the city of Annaberg-Buchholz for the incorporated districts of Cunersdorf, Frohnau and Geyersdorf, the industrial area on the B 101 and the Adam Ries residential area completed; Gas road usage agreements with Königswalde and Schlettau as well as with the city of Annaberg-Buchholz for the districts of Cunersdorf, Frohnau, Geyersdorf and the industrial area on the B 101. The electricity networks mentioned have been in operation since January 1, 2012, the gas networks since January 1, 2013 (Königswalde and Annaberg-Buchholz districts of Cunersdorf, Frohnau, Geyersdorf) and January 1, 2015 (Schlettau and industrial park on the B 101) in addition to the previously operated electricity and gas distribution networks in Annaberg-Buchholz.
The sales department opened service branches in Thum, Zschopau , Chemnitz (2), Zwönitz, Flöha, Hohenstein-Ernstthal and Kirchberg between 2009 and 2013 .
In 2014 Stadtwerke Annaberg-Buchholz took over the technical management of the "Altstadt 2" car park.
In 2017, MUB Management und Beratung GmbH merged with Stadtwerke Annaberg-Buchholz GmbH.
