In 1890 the public water supply began in Oberursel. Between 1959 and 1966 the “Riedwiese” waterworks was built. In 1965 the construction of the "Hohemark" waterworks began, which was completed in 1975. The Stadtwerke Oberursel (Taunus) GmbH was founded on December 22nd, 1967. Just a few days later, on January 1st, 1968, Stadtwerke Oberursel took over the water supply in the urban area of ​​Oberursel and the operation of the swimming pool. On October 17, 1972, the cities of Bad Homburg, Friedrichsdorf, Königstein, Kronberg and Oberursel founded the Taunus Water Supply Association (WBV Taunus). The Oberursel indoor swimming pool was opened on December 1, 1973. On March 18, 1975, the Stadthalle GmbH Oberursel (Taunus) was founded. On January 1, 2006, Stadtwerke Oberursel (Taunus) GmbH took over the operation of the swimming pools in Oberursel. From October 1, 2008, natural gas was supplied to private customers outside Oberursel by TaunaGas Oberursel (Taunus) GmbH. Since January 1, 2010, Stadtwerke Oberursel has also been supplying electricity to private customers in Oberursel. On February 23, 2011, Stadtwerke Oberursel and Raiffeisenbank Oberursel eG founded the energy cooperative "Neue Energie Taunus eG". On January 1, 2012, the water supply for the city of Oberursel was transferred from Stadtwerke Oberursel to Bau & Service Oberursel. This is owned by the city of Oberursel. On June 4, 2013, the old indoor swimming pool (rotunda) was demolished and construction of the new swimming pool at TaunaBad Oberursel began, in which public swimming started on December 20, 2014. Stadtwerke Oberursel received an award for their outstanding training concept ("Excellent Training Company") on December 9, 2013 from the Frankfurt Chamber of Commerce. In July 2015 the Oberursel municipal utilities received the "audit berufundfamilie" certificate (for an improved work-life balance). In June 2016 the Stadtwerke Oberursel published the TaunaApp Oberursel, an app with a lot of information and services about Oberursel.
