Stahlhelm faction was a pejoratively used political catchphrase . This term, used by opponents outside and inside the party, was intended to accuse the right wing of the party within the CDU around Alfred Dregger or the FDP with particular persistence.

The name alludes to the military headgear or the steel helmet, Bund der Frontsoldaten .

A comparable catchphrase is concrete fraction , derived from concrete head . But this is also used against left-wing parties.
