Stan Barker
Stan Barker (born May 24, 1926 in Clitheroe , † July 2, 1997 ) was a British jazz pianist .
Barker was mostly active as a music teacher up to the age of fifty (Royal Northern College of Music, Belfast School of Music, Merseyside Arts, South Wales Art Association, Southport Arts Center) and only then began performing as a professional musician; with his own trio he released an album on Nelson Records. He also played with Digby Fairweather (with whom he founded a jazz college in 1979 and played in a duo from 1980, album Let's Duet 1984 on Essex Radio), Al Gray , Buddy Tate , Al Wood and Billy Butterfield . He had a quartet with trombonist Roy Williams . Tom Lord recorded four recording sessions from 1984 to 1987.
