Stand Up For Europe is a euro-federalist citizens' movement that advocates the promotion of European democracy and unity.

history

The organization was founded on December 3, 2016 at the 6th European Federalist Convention in Brussels and emerged from the union of three pro-European organizations: Stand up for the United States of Europe , the European Federalist Party and United States of Europe Now .

organization

The organization is a non-profit making association ("Association sans but lucratif", ASBL) and registered in Brussels. Richard Laub, Georgios Kostakos, Olivier Boruchowitch and Pietro De Matteis are registered as founders.

The organs are: (i) General Assembly, (ii) Main Board, (iii) Advisory Board, (iv) Arbitration Commission, (v) Auditor, and (vi) Ombudsman. The general assembly is convened once per calendar year between November and February. It appoints the members of the main board by a simple majority for a renewable period of one year. The main board includes the office of president, vice-president, general secretary and treasurer.

According to its own statements, the organization sees itself as an urban citizens' movement. The organizational structure is therefore locally oriented. The activities are primarily based on the 30 city teams and seven university groups (as of May 2017). In Germany there are currently teams in Berlin and Munich . Stand Up regularly publishes press releases, a newsletter and an online magazine called Europe Today . In addition, Stand Up For Europe makes extensive use of social media such as Facebook , Twitter , LinkedIn , YouTube and Instagram to spread its content and message.
