The Standifer Bluff is a cliff on Dustin Iceland before Eights Coast of the West Antarctic Ellsworthlands . As part of the Smith Bluffs , it rises 16 km west-southwest of the northern reaches of the island on its northwest coast.
It was discovered in February 1960 during helicopter flights from the USS Burton Island and the USS Glacier on the expedition of the United States Navy into the Bellingshausen Sea . The Advisory Committee on Antarctic Names named it in 1968 after Jasper Newton Standifer (1928–1983) of the United States Geological Survey , a specialist in the analysis of aerial photographs in Antarctica from 1967 to 1968.
