The Stanford Plateau is an approximately 3000 m high, ice-covered plateau with a diameter of about 25 km in the west Antarctic Marie-Byrd-Land . It lies between the Leverett and Kansas glaciers . In the south it merges into the central polar plateau and ends in the north at the Watson Escarpment .
The area was mapped by surveying work by the United States Geological Survey and using aerial photographs by the United States Navy from 1960 to 1963. The Advisory Committee on Antarctic Names named the plateau in 1967 after Stanford University , from which numerous scientists came to explore Antarctica .
