Stanislaw Buczyński

Stanisław Buczyński (born July 29, 1912 in Ulatowo-Borzuchy, Powiat Przasnyski , † February 23, 1982 in Kotorów ) was a Polish poet and activist of the popular movement.

Life

Stanisław Buczyński came from a peasant family, but obtained the Abitur . After returning from his father (after emigrating) Jankowice, he lived near Grudziądz. From around 1929 until the peasant movement, he worked and cooperated with the press folk. He was a member of the Stronnictwo Ludowe (SL) party and was imprisoned twice for strikes for the organization (in Bereza ). With the outbreak of war he tried to hide, and then he went to Kotorów (Gmina Werbkowice). After his liberation he lived in Hrubieszów and then in 1968 he moved to Kotorów.

He was buried in the cemetery in Hostynne (Gmina Werbkowice).

His literary work includes more than 1000 works in newspapers, poetry collections and several reference books and anthologies of folk songs. The following volumes were published during the author's lifetime:

  • Poppies (1963)
  • The Day of Fight (1968)
  • Everything in me is out of the field (1981)

Buczyński's collections were also published after his death:

  • From My Days (1987)
  • Avian orchestra

The poet's editorial work is the culmination of a two-volume collection of poems, memoirs and letters “On the Road” (1993).

Since 1987 the Biennale Cycles Zamojski Culture and Folk Artists Association Branch in Zamosc has organized a poetry competition in honor of Stanisław Buczyński. In 2007 its XI edition was published.
