Stanley Brouwn
Stanley Brouwn (born June 25, 1935 in Paramaribo , Suriname , † May 18, 2017 in Amsterdam ) was a Dutch conceptual artist of Surinamese descent.
life and work
Brouwn moved to the Netherlands, to Amsterdam , in 1957 . He worked as an action artist until the early 1960s , and in the 1960s he worked with international Fluxus representatives. From 1960 to 1964 he created the This Way Brouwn series, a conceptual artist's book with stamped sketches of directions that Amsterdam passers-by recorded for him.
He was a participant in Documenta 5 in Kassel in 1972 in the Individual Mythologies : Video and Idea + Idea / Light department , represented as an artist at Documenta 6 (1977), Documenta 7 in 1982 and Documenta 11 .
Brouwn was a professor at the art academy in Hamburg.
