Stanley Lay
Stanley Lay ( Stanley Arthur "Stan" Lay ; born July 27, 1906 in New Plymouth , † May 12, 2003 ) was a New Zealand javelin thrower .
In 1926 he became Australasian champion. In 1927 he defended this title with a width of 66.51 m. In 1928 he became English champion with his personal best of 67.89 m and came in seventh place at the Olympic Games in Amsterdam . He won the British Empire Games in Hamilton in 1930 , won silver in Sydney in 1938 and was sixth in Auckland in 1950 . He was New Zealand Champion twelve times (1926–1930, 1934, 1935, 1937, 1939, 1945, 1946, 1950). In 1987 he was honored as a Member of the British Empire for his services to sport .
With a height of 1.75 and an arm span of 1.93, his monkey index was 1.1.
