Stapleford (Zimbabwe)

Stapleford is a place in the Manicaland Province in Zimbabwe . The place is about 35 km north of the provincial capital Mutare in the south of the Honde valley. Stapleford is the center of local wood processing and the location of a sawmill. From here, the forest area of ​​the approximately 1,400 hectare Stapleford Forest is managed by the Zimbabwean state forest authority and private investors. The place was founded in 1920, the sawmill was put into operation in 1940.

Stapleford Forest

The Stapleford Forest extends over approximately 1,400 hectares northeast of the town of Stapleford on the Zimbabwe- Mozambique border . The mountainous area is encompassed by Mount Kuwunsau, Mount Nuza, Mount Rupere, Mount Inhamuriro in the west and Mount Gorungue in the east. The Rupere forms the watershed of the Odzani rivers in a south-westerly direction and Nyamawharara in a north-easterly direction. The vegetation of the mountain forest consists of plants of the genus Syzygium and stone slices in lower areas . On the widely scattered grasslands and thinner wooded areas there are caesalpinioideae the genus Brachystegia , to the east of the forest area are chrysobalanaceae , Khaya and watercourses Redness plants of the genus Breonadia to find.
