Star Wars Fan Film Awards

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Star Wars Fan Film Awards are an annual film competition organized by the production companies Lucasfilm and Atomfilms for fans of the Star Wars saga. In 2002, Lucasfilm officially supported the competition for the first time. In 2007 the competition was renamed the Star Wars Fan Movie Challenge . In 2012, Lucasfilm announced the end of the competition on the grounds that the company would henceforth look for new ways to recognize and publicize the creativity of the fans.

In 2014 the company announced that the competition would be held again for the first time in three years and with new genres. The best short films were presented at the 2015 Star Wars Celebration in Anaheim , California .

Categories

The prizes are awarded in different categories. The main prize of the competition is the George Lucas Select Award , which is awarded to the film that George Lucas likes best. The Audience Choice Award is chosen by a global audience through the Atom.com website, where all of the finalists' films will be published. The Pioneer Award is given to films that define, change or influence the genre in more detail. Further prizes will be awarded by a jury made up of employees from the production films Atomfilms and Lucasfilm.
