Starkenberger is the brand name of the beer from the brewery at Schloss Neustarkenberg in Tarrenz (Tyrol).

history

The brewery at Schloss Starkenberg was founded by Anna Strele in 1810 after Tyrol was occupied by the French (see Battle of Bergisel ). In 1910 the brewery achieved a beer output of 10,000 hectoliters , by 1972 this output could be increased to 35,000 hectoliters. In the recent past the brewery changed hands several times. In 1985 the Amann family took over the brewery and modernized it. The catchment area of ​​the Starkenberg brewery concentrates exclusively on the Tyrol area with a focus on the Tyrolean Oberland.

The “Starkenberger Beer Swimming Pool”, which opened in 2005, is located at Schloss Starkenberg, where you can bathe in waste from beer production. It has three swimming pools of 4 × 4 meters. These are filled with beer storage, the yeast residues that arise during beer production. Biergeläger has long been used to treat skin diseases (including psoriasis ). Since the 1990s, a number of beer swimming pools have opened around the world as part of the spa and wellness trend.

On October 1, 2008, Martin Steiner took over the Starkenberg Betriebs GmbH brewery as the responsible managing director and main shareholder.

Starkenberg Castle

The beer is brewed with its own spring water in accordance with the German Purity Law . Over the past 30 years, beers from the Starkenberger Brewery have won 39 gold medals at the “ Monde Selection ” (Beer Olympics). The Starkenberger beer is one of the most award-winning beers in Austria .

Among other things, lager , black beer , Pils , Radler , Bock beer , as well as various single malt whiskeys and liqueurs are produced.
