Starship Troopers (alternative title: Starship Troopers Chronicles , original title: Roughnecks: The Starship Troopers Chronicles ) is an American animation series from 1999, based on the novel Starship Troopers by Robert A. Heinlein . Producers were Paul Verhoeven and Richard Raynis .

The series takes up many elements from Paul Verhoeven's film Starship Troopers , but contains many more elements from the novel. The controversial policy from the book is not addressed.

Production and publication

Andre Clavel directed the production for Adelaide Productions . 40 episodes were planned for the series. We worked with three teams who each had three weeks to complete an episode. However, when production fell behind, only 36 episodes were produced. The series never completed and ends in the middle of the story arc.

It was first broadcast on August 30, 1999 by The Sci-Fi Channel in the USA. Five episodes were broadcast each week. The series premiered in Germany and was released on seven DVDs from 2001 to 2003 . The DVDs are arranged according to the respective story arcs.
