Starship Troopers 2: Hero of the Federation

Starship Troopers 3: Marauder ( English marauder : marauder , looter) is an American - South African science fiction film from 2008 . It is the sequel to the Starship Troopers and Starship Troopers 2: Hero of the Federation films . In contrast to the second part, the protagonist Rico of the first film appears again in the course of the plot.

action

In the war of mankind that has been waged for several years, the race of bugs creates new, deadly and difficult-to-recognize species through mutation and evolution. But humans have not remained idle either and have developed a weapon in the form of the Q-bomb that can blow up entire planets.

Sky Marshal Omar Anoke, responsible for combating the bugs, stranded after his escape from an outpost destroyed by the bugs on the bug-controlled planet OM-1. Also in this stranded troop are the cook, the doctor, a stewardess, a soldier and the pilot of his personal space cruiser, Lola Beck. She is a confidante of Col. Rico and the current friend of the Sky Marshal's right-hand man, General Dix Hauser. For some inexplicable reason, the Sky Marshal suddenly reveals himself to be a believer, although religion is ostracized by the Federation government, and turns the search for the transport ship, which has also landed, into his personal search for God. Surprisingly, the group is not attacked by roaming bugs, which the Sky Marshal interprets as the "Specific Path". Johnny Rico, who was in command of the lost outpost, is sentenced to death for failing to order. During his execution by hanging, the rope appears to tear from its anchorage, but it turns out that Dix Hauser, who now claims to hold a leading position in the secret service, has his fingers in the game. Hauser reports to Col. Rico that he is on a secret mission, in which he is supported by a special force, to find and rescue the Sky Marshal. The newly developed “Marauder” combat suits with a diverse arsenal of weapons are available to them as technical support. Not only the Sky Marshal is one of the urgently wanted people, but also his pilot, as she knows the secret location of the fleet headquarters "Sanctuary". This information in "bug hands" would mean the downfall of mankind.

During the search for the missing Sky Marshal, they meet the god of bugs "Behemecoatyl", who has been controlling the Sky Marshal for a long time via the imprisoned Brain-Bug (from Part 1) by pretending that he is making peace with humanity want. The Sky Marshal is devoured by Behemecoatyl. The special unit under Johnny's leadership can save Lola Beck and the stewardess, and with the latest weapon, the Q-bomb, the “mega-bug” is finally destroyed along with the planet.

To conclude, a federation spot explains that God does exist and that he is on the side of people. Dix Hauser and Lola Beck get married, and Col. Jonny Rico is offered a promotion to general. He is to take command of the Marauder program.

background

  • The armored combat suits in the novel Starship Troopers are actually artificial exoskeletons and not meter-high ' Mechs . In this Sanctuary is not a naval base space base either, but a primeval, earth-like planet colonized by humans
  • Like the second part, Starship Troopers 3 is a direct-to-DVD production . The film was released in Germany on October 16, 2008 on Blu-ray Disc and DVD
  • The combat suit Marauder has the same name as the title and the name of the player character in the video game Starship Troopers
  • The film was budgeted for $ 20 million
  • Van Dien's wife at the time, Catherine Oxenberg , played a minor role as a technician
  • At the point at the beginning of the film in which SM Anoke is found wounded, an officer calls the trooper "Marines" in the German version (Austria)

Reviews

“Continuation film as a bloody battle. The sophisticated 'look' as well as some satirical swipes make it impossible to overlook the fact that the film is lacking in all corners and ends due to the low budget. "

"Conclusion: moderately tricked space actioner for fans."
