Starting shot, gay / lesbian sports club Hamburg

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Starting shot, the gay / lesbian sports club Hamburg is one of the medium-sized sports clubs in Hamburg with 19 sports departments and 650 members . Networking is particularly important for the association, which is why it works with other Hamburg gay and lesbian groups, promotes participation in national and international tournaments and regularly organizes its own tournaments.

In 1990, some gays interested in sports took a role model in gay sports clubs such as the "Sportclub Janus eV" in Cologne or the Frankfurt volleyball club and founded what was initially an all-male club. In the 1990s the word "lesbian" was added to the name; since then, the association's offer has also been aimed at women.

The club is a member of the Hamburger Sportbund and various sports associations, so that interested members can take part in licensed competitions. The anchoring of the association in Hamburg can be seen in the town hall reception for the 20th anniversary.
