Stasis (medicine)
In medical terminology, stasis ( Greek στάσις , stasis , stagnation) is the stasis of an otherwise moving body fluid or an ingredient in hollow organs :
- Congestion of blood , see hemostasis
- Congestion of lymph , lymphostasis , see edema
- Congestion of bile , see cholestasis
- Congestion of mucus , see mucostasis
- Stasis of urine , see urinary stasis
- Congestion of intestinal contents , see coprostasis (also enterostasis )
- Congestion of food in the stomach ( gastrostasis )
