Statens fastighetsverk , or SFV for short , is a Swedish authority that is under the Swedish Ministry of Finance ( Swedish finansdepartementet ) and is responsible for managing part of the state's real estate .

history

The history of the SFV goes back to the 16th century, when the Swedish royal family increased their ownership of buildings and land. This was partly a result of the Reformation and partly Gustav Vasa’s policy to strengthen the Swedish central power. Today maintained SFV example Vadstena convent and the once expropriated by the Crown Biskops-Arnö .

The authority today

The current authority was established in 1993 and has the task of assuming responsibility for the state property portfolio with a special interest in cultural history. The head office is in Stockholm with several branches in different locations in the country. SFV manages over 1,800 properties including a large number of castles, museums, theaters, historic defenses, government buildings, embassies, and parks. Within the remit of SFV protection and care falls of approximately 6.5 million hectares of state land and soil, which corresponds to the seventh of Sweden's surface area. Examples of different administrative objects include: Linnés Hammarby , the Karlskrona naval port , Landskrona citadel , Drottningholm Palace and Hagapark .
