The Promenade MRT station is a tunnel station on the Downtown Line and Circle Line in Downtown Core, Singapore . At this station, the Circle Line branches off into two routes, similar to the Tanah Merah. The first route, the Circle Line Extension, runs across the Bayfront to Marina Bay . The second route is the main route that leads to Dhoby Ghaut via Bras Basah and the Esplanade .

With the construction of the Downtown Line platforms below the Circle Line platforms, this station is the second deepest station in the entire MRT network after the Bencoolen MRT station (43 meters). The deepest platform is 42 meters below the surface, where the platform for the Downtown Line trains to the Bukit Panjang MRT Station is located.

Nearby amenities include Suntec City , Singapore Flyer , Marina Bay Sands , Marina Square , Youth Olympic Park, and The Float @ Marina Bay .

history

Before the station was built, it was temporarily called Millenia . However, the naming rights for Millenia expired in 2005 and the name was therefore chosen as the promenade, reflecting the heritage of the region. During the construction of the Promenade MRT station for the Circle Line on March 25, 2003, the section of Rochor Road (from ECP to Suntec City ) was realigned. On November 27, 2003 Temasek Avenue was also realigned.

The station opened on April 17, 2010 along with the rest of Levels 1 and 2 of the Circle Line. On January 14, 2012, the Circle Line Extension opened and this station became an exchange for the extension. On December 22, 2013, this station became a traffic junction with the Downtown Line.
