Status (workflow)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

In workflow management, status (also processing status , production status ) means the processing status of a work process within a workflow in production or administration at a specific point in time.

General

The execution of a task is usually done by several operational sequences and cycle elements (steps, english tasks ), which is to be regarded only as a whole to be satisfied by a last latter and completes operation. A task experiences a status change after each work step. Many of these process sections are functionally, physically or technically dependent on one another, so that a certain sequence (sequence of operations) must be adhered to during the work process . For this purpose, workers mostly use work equipment in order to achieve a work result based on the specified work task . The completion status is usually “ ready for the market ” in production and “done” in administration.

purpose

Between the start of a work task and its complete completion (finished product , finished service ), the unfinished status is called the status ( production status ). He plays in the production an important role to ensure about the timely completion of products and services. The status is also important when an order is received . Here the status changes from incoming orders to backlog as soon as processing or production has started.

Information technology

In information technology , the task status is the position at which a task is located in the workflow ; the last status of a task is called "closed".

In the context of modeling with UML , in particular with the activity diagram, in German one speaks of a “state” instead of a status, which, however, denotes the same thing. In English, however, the term "State" is retained. According to the UML mindset, a status or state is the same as an activity . This can be explained if you look at it from the computer's point of view; a process is in the state of data acquisition , which at the same time represents a user activity.
