Stauffacher SZ
The Stauffachers were a leading family in Schwyz in the 13th and 14th centuries . It was first documented in 1267.
Well-known namesake are:
- Heinrich Stauffacher , Landammann in 1320, brother of Werner Stauffacher, involved in leading position in the dispute with the monastery of Einsiedeln, which to the Battle of Morgarten led
- Rudolf Stauffacher , with Hans Schryber 1303 Landammann von Schwyz and envoy from Schwyz at the Rütli oath
- Werner Stauffacher , according to a legend, an envoy from Schwyz to the Rütli oath , figure in Friedrich Schiller's Wilhelm Tell from 1804
