Steen Bostrup

Steen Bostrup (born January 24, 1939 in Horsens , † September 6, 2006 in Copenhagen ) was a journalist and news anchor. He was best known as the presenter of the television news show TV Avisen from Danmarks Radio and was nicknamed "Mr. News". He was the father of actress Charlotte Sachs Bostrup .

After finishing school, he served in the Royal Life Guard for two years and then decided to pursue a career as a journalist. He started his career with "Horsens Folkeblad" in 1959. Then he came to the Aarhus newspaper "Demokrats".

In 1964 Bostrup got his first job at Danmarks Radio as a freelance radio journalist and in 1967 he switched to television. In 1977 he became a presenter and in 1979 chief news anchor. For more than 30 years he was the face of the Danish television news.

On July 15, 2001, he said goodbye to his audience for the last time and went into retirement. Steen Bostrup, who was a heavy smoker throughout his life, died of cardiac arrest on September 6, 2006 at the age of 67 in Rigshospital.
