The Steenhus Börger (also Boerger I called) is a Neolithic passage grave . It originated between 3500 and 2800 BC. BC and is a megalithic plant of the funnel beaker culture . It bears the Sprockhoff no. 819.

location

The Steenhus is located in the middle of Börger , in the Emsland district in Lower Saxony, between two houses on the roadside.

description

The east-west facing chamber is well preserved. All but one of the bearing stones are in situ . Nine of the former 13 cap stones are present, one is broken. The chamber has a length of approximately 14.5 meters and a width of 2.5 meters. The supporting stones of the access, which is located in the middle of the southern long side, are still there. Originally, the complex was probably surrounded by an oval frame, of which only a stone remains. Remains of the former elongated hill can be seen.

The Steenhus is the most handsome large stone grave in Börger. In the place there is with the Hünensteinen - Börger II, (Sprockhoff No. 818) and the large stone grave on the Vaogelbarg - Börger III (Sprockhoff No. 820) further megalithic systems and the sacrificial stone from Börger, a boulder .
