Stefan Amt (* 1960 ) is a German architect and monument conservator .

Life

Stefan Amt studied architecture at the University of Hanover from 1983 to 1990 with a focus on building research and monument preservation . There he received his doctorate in 1998 with his dissertation The Landbauwesen Kurhannovers in the 18th century ... with special consideration of the Oberlandbaumeister Otto Heinrich von Bonn . From 1992 to 2001 he was academic advisor at the Institute for the History of Architecture and Art at the University of Hanover.

In 1990 Stefan Amt founded the office for historical building research in Hanover. He took on teaching positions, for example, at the Universities of Hanover and Braunschweig, at universities of applied sciences in Hanover, Holzminden and Wismar, at the Hämeenlinna Polytechnic in Finland and at the State University of Construction in St. Peterburg / Russia. His teaching areas include building surveying, historical building research and construction, building history, monument preservation and building preservation. Stefan Amt published numerous papers on architectural and occupational history topics.

Since 2009 Stefan Amt has been working as curator of the Hildesheim diocese , responsible for the structural preservation of monuments.

Stefan Amt is a member of the Koldewey Society , the National Trust , the Bauhütte zum Weißen Blatt and the 1960+ working group in the Baukultur network .
