Otto Heinrich of Bonn

Otto Heinrich von Bonn (born April 6, 1703 in Jühnde near Göttingen, † October 17, 1785 in Oldenstadt (Celle)) was a master builder from the Electorate of Hanover.

The son of the bailiff Johann Philipp von Bonn and his wife Margarete Elisabeth studied mathematics in Göttingen on a state scholarship in 1718/19 and then did practical training.

In 1724 he applied unsuccessfully for a position in the Hanoverian fortress construction industry and was then commissioned with a land survey in Mecklenburg from the end of 1724 under the direction of the Secret Council of Alvensleben. He then worked in Holstein for Field Marshal von Bülow .

In 1735 he became a lieutenant in the engineering corps of the Hanoverian army . From 1736 he was subordinate to the Chamber as master builder and in 1749 he was promoted to chief builder. He became one of the leading construction officials in the electorate until a new agricultural regulation implemented in 1779 restricted his jurisdiction to the Duchy of Lauenburg and the northern parts of the Principality of Lüneburg .
