Stefan Beyerle (* 1964 in Landau in the Palatinate ) is a German Protestant theologian .

Live and act

In 1983 Beyerle began studying Protestant theology, philosophy and journalism, which he completed in 1990 with the First Theological Examination . In 1997 Beyerle received his doctorate from the University of Bonn ; In 2001 he completed his habilitation there.

From 1999 to 2005 Beyerle was a research assistant at the Carl von Ossietzky University in Oldenburg . He then completed his vicariate at the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Oldenburg (second theological exam 2007). In February 2008, he was in the Evangelical Church of the Palatinate ordained .

Since May 2008 he has been Professor of the Old Testament at the University of Greifswald . From 2010 to 2014 he was the Dean of Studies at the local theological faculty. In 2013 he was a scholarship holder of the Deiahl organization's academic teaching course in Israel and Jordan. From 2014 to 2016 he was dean of the theological faculty at the University of Greifswald.

Since 2016 he has been the first chairman of the Kulturhermeneutischen Sozietät. Because one focus of his work is cultural hermeneutics, the positioning of Old Testament science and its findings in cultural contexts. Since 2005, together with Matthias Petzoldt and Michael Roth, he has published the Theologie - Kultur - Hermeneutik series at the Evangelische Verlagsanstalt in Leipzig .
