Stefan Höhener (born June 13, 1980 in Gais AR ) is a former Swiss luge athlete .

Stefan Höhener from Obfelden has been a member of the Swiss national luge team since 1996 . The bricklayer has been competing in the Luge World Cup since the 2000/01 season. In the following season he came in tenth in the top 10 for the first time in Winterberg . At the 2002 Olympic Games in Salt Lake City , Höhener was 13th. 2003/04 he was able to improve his best World Cup result in Calgary in sixth place. He repeated this result in the following season.

Höhener made a leap in performance in the 2004/05 season. In addition to a further improvement in the result in the individual World Cup in Königssee , where he finished fourth, he was third in the Challenge Cup in Winterberg and second in Igls . At the World Championships in Park City , he was sixth. Despite a fifth place in the World Cup race in Igls, the following season was rather unsatisfactory. At the 2006 Winter Olympics in Turin he was only 15th, at the European Championships in Winterberg only 13.

He achieved his final international breakthrough in the 2006/07 season. At the World Cup races in Park City and Calgary he came third, in Königssee and Altenberg fourth. At the world championships in Igls, he was fifth.

After the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver , Höhener ended his active career. At the Olympic races, he finished 32nd after having lost all prospects of a better placement due to a fall in the second run.
