Stefan Hirsch

Stefan Hirsch (born March 7, 1975 in Vienna ) has been Chief Secretary for Communication and Strategy of the SPÖ since 2018 . Before that, he worked in the Gusenbauer, Faymann and Kern governments as press spokesman or office manager. From 2016 to 2017 he was Head of Communications for Defense and Sports Minister Hans Peter Doskozil . From 2014 to 2016, Hirsch was Office Manager of the State Secretary in the Federal Ministry of Finance and later in the Federal Chancellery, Sonja Steßl . In 2013 he was in charge of communications for the Social Democratic Party of Austria ( SPÖ ). Hirsch was also press spokesman for the Federal Minister for National Defense (later National Defense and Sport) Norbert Darabos (from 2007 to 2008 and from 2009 to 2013) and for Federal Chancellor Alfred Gusenbauer (June to December 2008) . Before Hirsch became active in federal politics, he was the spokesperson for Renate Brauner, the Vienna City Councilor for Health and Welfare at the time . He studied communication science and political science in Vienna.
