Stefan Ivanov (painter)

Stefan Ivanov Georgiev , Bulgarian Стефан Иванов Георгиев (born December 25, 1875 in Dolna Bela Retschka , † July 14, 1951 in Sofia ) was a Bulgarian painter .

Life

He graduated from the Sofia Art Academy in 1901. From 1906 he worked as a professor of painting. In 1941 he became a member of the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences .

His artistic work included portraits, landscapes, still lifes and nudes, but also pictures with socio-political themes. He was involved in the design of churches, including the Alexander Nevsky Cathedral in Sofia.

Ivanov was awarded the Dimitrov Prize.
