The Rivne – Luninez line is a cross-border branch line in Ukraine and Belarus . It runs from Rivne , the capital of Rivne Oblast, in a northerly direction via Sarny and the Udryzk border station to Luninez , a railway junction in southern Belarus. The line has a track width of 1520 m, is single-track and is not electrified. On the Ukrainian side, operations are carried out by the Ukrainian Railways , in particular the Lvivska Salisnyzja , and on the Belarusian side from Buchlitschy by the Belaruskaja Tschyhunka (Belarusian Railways).

history

The line was opened on August 2, 1885 by the Vilna-Rovno Railway (which became part of the Polessye Railway in 1886 ) with a connection to the Rowno station of the Russian Southwest Railways . After 1918 the line was transferred to the Polish State Railways PKP , the line was converted to standard gauge, the route Wilno - Baranowicze - Łuniniec - Równe had the route book number 518 in 1939. After the Second World War, the line came to the Soviet Union and was switched back to broad gauge, In 1991 the line then became the property of the Ukrainian Railways and the Belarusian Railways.
