Russian Southwest Railways
The Russian Southwest Railways (South-West Railways, Ukrainian Південно-Західні залізниці , Russian Юго-Западные железные дороги / Yugo-Sapadnyje schelesnyje dorogi ) was a railway company in the Russian Empire and the USSR on the territory of present-day Ukraine .
The company, which was created by renaming the Brest-Odessa Railway as part of the takeover of the Bendery-Galatzer Railway in 1882, was the largest private railway company in the Russian Empire until it was nationalized on January 1, 1895.
Route network
The route network of the Südwestbahnen had a length of 3478 km in 1894 and grew to 4167 km by 1914. The following routes were operated by the Südwestbahnen:
