Stefan Lindfors (born May 3, 1962 in Mariehamn ) is a Finnish interior architect and designer.

Life

Lindfors studied at the Helsinki University of Applied Arts and graduated in 1988 with an exams as a furniture designer and interior designer.

He had already attracted attention in 1985 with a lightweight metal chair he had developed. He became known through an exhibition at his college in which he presented three thrones that he dedicated to the rulers of Russia , the USA and the People's Republic of China . In 1989 he designed the café in the Helsinki Museum of Applied Arts , in 1990 the news studio for Finnish television and in 1993 a shop for Marimekko .

From 1993 to 1996 he was principal of the Art Institute in Kansas City .

In his designs, he often orientates himself on the animal world and especially on invertebrates and insects . This also applies to the Scaragoo lamp he created in 1988. He created sculptures from iron and acrylic , which he exhibited at the Reges Insectorum exhibition in Helsinki in 1991 and at the Freedom of Speech exhibition in three US cities in 1995 and 1996.

In 1992 he received the Georg Jensen Prize for Design.
