Stefan Marcinowski

Stefan Marcinowski (born February 22, 1953 in Stuttgart ) is a German chemist and manager . From 1997 to spring 2012 he was a member of the Board of Executive Directors of BASF SE .

Life

Marcinowski studied chemistry from 1971 to 1976 at the Universities of Stuttgart and Freiburg . In 1978 he did his doctorate at the University of Freiburg with the biochemist Hans Grisebach , until 1979 he remained an assistant at the biochemical institute of the University of Freiburg. In 1979 he joined the main laboratory at BASF Aktiengesellschaft, where he did research in the field of biotechnology . In 1986 he was appointed to the staff of the Chairman of the Executive Board, and in 1988 he became head of the central public relations department at BASF. In 1992 he became Vice President of BASF in Brazil, and in 1995 he returned to Germany, where he became head of the Foam Materials and Reactive Resins division. In 1997 he was finally appointed to the Board of Management of what was then BASF Aktiengesellschaft (since January 2008: BASF SE).

At BASF, he was responsible for the Crop Protection, Coatings, BASF Plant Science and Specialty Chemicals Research divisions. He was also responsible for the regional area South America. Marcinowski has been retired since May 2012.

Marcinowski is a member of the German Academy of Science and Engineering (Acatech) .
