Stefan Mehlhorn

Stefan Mehlhorn (* 1981 in Potsdam ) is a German filmmaker and film producer .

Mehlhorn began filming as a schoolboy. After graduating from high school and completing basic military service, he did a one-year internship at the ORB's DOKfilm production company in 2001 . He then studied film at the Baden-Württemberg Film Academy . After completing his undergraduate studies, Mehlhorn first went on to study abroad for a year at the Moscow film school VGIK before continuing his studies at the film academy in 2005.

Mehlhorn initially worked primarily in the field of documentary and experimental film. His biographical film about and with the communist Walter Ruge About the Threshold (2006), which received a number of awards such as the Foundlings Prize and the title “ particularly valuable ”, received special attention . Also works in the fields of music video, commercials and feature films.

After graduating in 2009, Mehlhorn founded MEHdok Film- und Videoproduktion in 2011 together with seven other filmmakers, his own film production company, which, according to his own description, is a "network of young filmmakers and artists from Berlin, Potsdam, Bonn, Halle Saale, Leipzig, Heilbronn, Kirchheim am Neckar, Ludwigsburg and Stuttgart ”acts.
