Stefan Rhein

Stefan Rhein (born 1958 ) is a German classical philologist . Since 1998 he has been the board member and director of the Luther Memorials Foundation in Saxony-Anhalt .

Stefan Rhein received his doctorate in Heidelberg in 1987 on Melanchthon's Greek poems. From 1988 to 1997, Rhein was curator at the Melanchthonhaus in Bretten and, since 1994, has also been head of the Reuchlin research center at the Heidelberg Academy of Sciences .

From 2007 he set up the state office for Luther 2017 to coordinate the nationwide activities of the Reformation anniversary.

Stefan Rhein is considered a great connoisseur of humanism and the time of the Reformation . His main research interests are Philipp Melanchthon , Johannes Reuchlin , the history of science and the theory and history of museums relating to the history of the Reformation.
