Stefan Rieger (* 1963 ) is a German media and cultural theorist .

Life

Stefan Rieger studied German and philosophy and worked in the Collaborative Research Center for Literature and Anthropology in Constance. He was with a thesis on data processing and mnemonics in Baroque doctorate . He wrote his habilitation thesis on the relationship between media and anthropology. He was a Heisenberg scholarship holder of the German Research Foundation and has been teaching at the Ruhr University Bochum as a professor for media history and communication theory since autumn 2007 ; he also heads the Institute for Media Studies.
