Stefan Schreyer (born October 23, 1946 in Gotha ) is a former athlete from the German Democratic Republic (GDR). In 1972 he was fifth in the decathlon .

Schreyer placed himself for the first time in the GDR championships in the decathlon in 1967 when he finished eighth. But it wasn't until 1972 that he was able to place himself in the top three, when he became East German champion with 7942 points. At the 1972 Olympic Games in Munich, he represented the GDR together with Joachim Kirst , who had to give up after the hurdles. Schreyer was the only one of the German decathletes to complete his competition, he achieved his personal best of 7950 points (7907 according to today's standard scoring). In fifth place he was 34 points behind the bronze medal, as a sprinter / thrower type he lost a possible medal in the final 1,500 meter run. In 1973 and 1975 Schreyer took second place twice at the GDR championships, behind Dieter Krüger .

Schreyer took part in 14 competitions in the national jersey from 1967 to 1975, but the 1972 Olympic Games remained his only major championships. The trained electrical machine builder started for the SC Chemie Halle . With a height of 1.84 m, his competition weight was 84 kg.

Schreyer is a trainer at LG Ohra Energie LV Gothaer Land and Andy Dittmar's trainer .
