Joachim Kirst (born May 21, 1947 in Neunhofen , Neustadt an der Orla ) is a former German athlete and Olympic participant who - starting for the GDR - was successful as a decathlete in the 1960s and 1970s . The highlight of his career were two European championship victories, in 1969 and 1971.

In 1970 he received the Patriotic Order of Merit in bronze and in 1971 in silver.
