Olle Bexell

Karl Olof "Olle" Bexell (born June 14, 1909 in Luleå , † January 6, 2003 in Uppsala) was a Swedish athlete . With a height of 1.90 m, his competition weight was 84 kg.

Olle Bexell played a total of twelve decathlons , of which he won nine. He was Swedish champion from 1935 to 1938 inclusive. In 1938 he also won the pentathlon title .

At the 1936 Olympic Games in Berlin, Bexell achieved 7024 points, which corresponds to 6558 points according to today's rating. With this performance he finished seventh.

In 1937 Bexell was the best in the world for the year with his personal best of 7337 points (6781 points according to today's rating).

Bexell played his last decathlon in 1938 at the European Championships in Paris. With 7214 points (corresponds to 6870 points) he won the title ahead of the Polish Witold Gerutto and the Swiss Josef Neumann .

After his sporting career he was a doctor, since 1949 he worked as a general pediatrician in Uppsala, Sweden.
