Godtfred Holmvang (born October 7, 1917 in Stabekk , † February 19, 2006 in Vancouver ) was a Norwegian athlete who started for the IL Tyrving.

The first European championships after the Second World War took place in Oslo from 22 to 25 August 1946 . It dominated Sweden, which had been spared from the war. But the other Scandinavian countries each won at least one title. The only title for the hosts from Norway won Godtfred Holmvang in the supreme discipline, the decathlon . With 6987 points (6760 points according to today's rating) he won ahead of Sergei Kuznetsov from the Soviet Union with 6930 points, the Swede Göran Waxberg with 6661 points and the Swiss Armin Scheurer with 6655 points. He was then honored with the Morgenbladet gold medal.

At the Olympic Games in London in 1948 , Holmvang took tenth place with 6663 points (6324 according to today's rating).

Holmvang was Norwegian champion in the decathlon in 1939, 1946 and 1948. In 1946 he also won the title in the 110-meter hurdles .

In 1946 Holmvang was awarded the Egebergs Ærespris .

In 1968 Holmvang emigrated to Canada and settled in Vancouver.
