Stefan Stantschew (Germanist)

Stefan Ivanov Stantschew ( Bulgarian Стефан Станчев ; born January 7, 1906 in Stara Sagora ; † 1982 ) was a Bulgarian Germanist .

Life

Stantschew completed a degree in German at the University of Sofia and specialized in 1938/1939 at the University of Munich . From 1952 to 1956 he taught Bulgarian at the Berlin Humboldt University . From 1956 he worked as a professor at the University of Sofia.

In his academic work he published articles on German literature and in particular on the literature of the GDR . He has written textbooks for the German language as well as German-Bulgarian and Bulgarian-German dictionaries. He also emerged as a translator.
