Stefan Wolfer

Stefan Wölfer (born December 8, 1896 in Kohfidisch ; † January 3, 1979 in Güssing ) was an Austrian politician ( SPÖ ) and bricklayer . Wölfer was married and from 1947 to 1949 a member of the Burgenland Landtag .

Wölfer was born as the son of the farm worker Theresia Wölfer from Kohfidisch. After attending primary school in Güssing, he learned the profession of bricklayer and did his military service from 1916 to 1918 during the First World War . He then worked as a miner in a coal mine in Hungary, before returning to Burgenland in 1921 as a bricklayer. Between 1930 and 1945 he worked as a construction foreman in Güssing, then from 1947 to 1961 he was a contract employee of the Güssing building district office.

In the interwar period, Wölfer was involved in the construction workers' union and in the Social Democratic Party, where he was active as a councilor in Güssing between 1927 and 1934. From 1945 he worked in the SPÖ district organization Güssing and held the office of district party chairman from 1947 to 1953. He was also a councilor and deputy mayor in Güssing and represented the SPÖ in the Burgenland state parliament between October 9, 1947 and November 4, 1949, after he had replaced Johann Kranitz in the state parliament.
